SnekQ Privacy Policy

Draft for attorney review before public release. Effective July 26, 2026.

Privacy summary

  • No SnekQ account is required.
  • SnekQ does not display ads or sell personal information.
  • Encounter history, saved photos, notes, favorites, collections, and exact map coordinates are normally stored only on the user's device.
  • Ordinary scan-image copies are temporarily processed and deleted from ordinary SnekQ server storage after the requested identification.

No account required

SnekQ does not create a customer-profile database for ordinary app use. The app can be used without a SnekQ username, password, email address, or social login. Apple may provide transaction information needed to purchase, restore, and verify a subscription, but SnekQ does not use that information to create an advertising profile.

Ordinary AI identifications

For a new identification, SnekQ temporarily receives one to five analysis copies of the selected photos, image-quality diagnostics, available image metadata, location context, app and device diagnostics, and limited App Store transaction information used to verify access. The photos are used to return the requested identification and are deleted from ordinary SnekQ server storage after processing. The original photos, encounter report, notes, favorites, history, collections, and memories remain on the user's device unless the user deliberately shares, exports, submits an inaccuracy report, or contacts support.

Location and encounter map

SnekQ first attempts to use an embedded photo geotag. If no usable geotag exists, the app may use the device's current coordinates as a geographic-likelihood fallback. Current device coordinates do not prove where an older, edited, messaged, screenshot, or downloaded image was captured.

Saved map pins, accuracy, source, place labels, and sensitive-location preferences are normally stored in the app's local database. The coordinates used for the original AI identification are preserved separately from a pin edited later. Exact coordinates are excluded from ordinary share cards by default. SnekQ does not sell, broker, or build advertising audiences from encounter locations.

AI service provider

Temporary analysis copies and the structured identification request are sent through SnekQ's configured AI processing provider. SnekQ requests only the processing needed to provide the feature and disables retained application-state storage where supported. The provider's service and privacy terms also apply to that processing.

Subscriptions and service protection

SnekQ processes limited App Store transaction information to verify subscription status, restore access, and respond to renewal, expiration, billing, refund, or revocation events. The server stores one-way transaction hashes and limited entitlement details such as product, status, environment, expiration, renewal state, and verification time. Short-lived one-way request fingerprints, operation types, counts, and timestamps may be kept for fair-use limits, security, abuse prevention, and cost control. Ordinary scan photos are not stored with those records.

Confirmed inaccuracy reports

When the user confirms Report Inaccurate Identification, the user authorizes SnekQ to upload and retain the reported evidence package: original locally stored encounter photos, the AI report, matches, confidence and quality information, embedded metadata, original location context, current report-submission coordinates when available, timestamps, app/build and device details, model and knowledge-base versions, image hashes, and related diagnostics. This package is used to reproduce, review, correct, and improve the system.

Reports confirmed as false, malicious, duplicate, prank, or unusable are removed with their retained photos and scan package. A minimal non-photo abuse-prevention audit record may remain. Legitimate reports may be retained in a controlled improvement dataset after review. Access is limited to authorized administrators and reviewers.

Support

Support requests are handed off to Handy HQ, Handi Inc.'s support system. The SnekQ website retains delivery status and the resulting ticket number rather than maintaining a second complete ticket copy after a successful handoff. Handy HQ receives information submitted by the user and the technical details included with the request.

Sharing and exports

Apple's share sheet controls the destination selected by the user. Branded share cards omit exact GPS coordinates by default. The user is responsible for reviewing any report, image, note, place name, or coordinate intentionally included in an export.

Security and retention

SnekQ uses HTTPS, access controls, private server storage, credential separation, audit logging, cleanup jobs, and backups. No system can guarantee absolute security. Limited records may be retained when needed for security, legal obligations, payment verification, dispute resolution, or a legitimate reviewed correction dataset.

Children

SnekQ is not designed to collect personal information from children and is not intended for unsupervised emergency or wildlife-handling decisions. Parents and guardians should supervise use by minors.

Choices and deletion

Users can delete local encounters, photos, notes, and map pins in the app, or remove local app data by deleting the app. Location and notification permission can be changed in iOS Settings. Privacy or deletion requests involving a retained inaccuracy report or support ticket can be submitted through SnekQ support. Some minimal records may remain when legally or operationally required.

Changes and contact

Material updates will be posted at snekq.com. Contact SnekQ through the support page for privacy questions.
